Vincent Pluijmers - Biography
Vincent PluijmersVincent Pluijmers (05-08-1947) - † 2010
Son of A.B. (Toon ) Pluijmers (1910-1967) Painter draughtsman etcher

Freedom and adventure exist only in our dreams.
The itinerary to Utopia or the Land of Plenty have never been discovered.
Vincent Pluijmers machines for that reason will function only in our imagination, devised as they are to take us to locations he used to visit with 'De Vrijheid' (Freedom') the legendary sailing ship of the Dutch Adventure Comic Hero 'Kapitein Rob' ('Captain Rob').
Designs which he realises with materials fortuitously at hand, found at flea markets or even next to waste bins.
Designs which are, after hours of deep thought and dreams and dozens of little drawings, already completed in his mind. All that is left to is to do is to put together the finished design. Only to be modified when after realisation the proportions prove to be less than perfect in his eyes, or when they collapse, due to errors of thought.
Escapism, of course, but don't we all dream of a world a little less imperfect than the one we live in?
